Sitting Pretty

In 2013-2014, developing carving techniques further, the Sitting Pretty project was developed following an award from the Developing Local Communities Fund. Local people designed and carved 5 wooden seats in green oak. Each has a unique design and the seats have been installed at different locations to create a 2 mile circular walk around Forth:

  • Bank Hall Sheltered Housing Garden -  'Daisy Chain', celebrating wild flowers and the countryside;

  • Kilrymont Community Garden - 'Windy Ways', a tribute to the cauld winds blawin' through the Forth;

  • Gateway Garden - 'Black Diamond', referencing the coal seams and local mining;

  • Forth Community Resource Centre Garden - 'Leaf Fall & Relax' drawing inspiration from the Woodlands;

  • Forth Bowling Green - 'The Miners', depicting rows of miners' helmets and lamps.
